Know Your Audience: How Do Americans Use Social Media?

The Pew Research Center just posted a report examining Americans and their thoughts about social media. If you're trying to promote your podcast on social media channels, it's essential to know where your potential audience is (fish where the fish are). Some takeaways aren't much of a surprise.

  • YouTube is the most widely used platform by far. A whopping 83% of adults say they've used YouTube. That's a lot of fish.
  • Facebook hasn't gone away. 68% admit to using Facebook, so it's still a very viable resource.
  • Twitter/X hasn't gone away, yet. Just 22% say they use Twitter. It's near the bottom of the social media channels listed.
  • Don't discount TikTok. The platform has seen 12% growth since 2021.

Know your social media channels. They are great marketing tools if used right.

WAVVE DESIGN OF THE WEEK

Good design doesn't have to be flashy. It's important to be informative and transparent. This has all of that and then some in an easily digestible format. The podcast name, hosts, guest, topic are all right there in front of you. Occasional really good visual design sacrifices the details of the podcast, and it's hard to attract listeners if they don't know what you're about.
