Has AI Found Emotion? Why Do We Care?Yesterday, ChatGPT announced a new iteration, GPT-4o. A lot of what the new model brings is improved performance. But it's also capable of audio responses with an emotional edge and it can attempt to recognize user's moods. Soooo. What does this mean for podcasters? Emotion is a tough nut to crack. It's what makes people sound, well, like people. Any AI improvement making audio sound more real, is one that podcasters should pay attention to. AI improvements can certainly aid in podcast content creation. But imagine a singular host adding depth to a podcast with an AI partner. The more realistic that AI co-host sounds, the better. We've said it here before, AI is part of the future. So keep an eye on it. It'll no doubt help make podcasting easier, and it's always good to be on the side of the bots when they become self-aware. Analysis: We're back to audio books as examples of great design, but that's because the design for these is usually pretty well done. This one is striking. The deep reds, the clever carry through of the crescent moon shape into the font...it's aspect like this that work. We've had some fairly simple, but effective, designs examples lately.
