Choosing Podcast Content That Builds An Audience

Podcasts are frequently made because the creator has a great idea for a topic. But there are also times where the podcaster just knows they want to podcast, and the content comes next.💡

There are limitless options for podcasts topics (it's not all true crime), but it's a good idea to keep the following in mind:

  • Choose something you're passionate about or are an expert in. A real connection to your content comes through in your podcast.
  • Make sure it's something that people care enough about to listen. Being too niche can limit your audience.
  • Make sure it's got legs. Choose content that will last over dozens of possible episodes.
  • Be willing to pivot. Be open to a new route if your initial topic doesn't work.

Need More Content Ideas? Here's a List of 75

You certainly should choose a podcast topic that you have some personal connection with or are good at. But that can be difficult to narrow down.

Analysis: There's nice visual balance here. The photos of the hosts are paired nicely with each other. What I really like isn't design at all, but copy. In just six words the reader knows exactly what the topic of the podcast is. Simple and transparent. Potential audiences like that.
