Understanding the Demographics of Podcast Fans

The gurus at Sounds Profitable do an outstanding job of uncovering the statistics behind the podcast industry. Their latest post examines what makes up podcast fans and non-fans. Note that the survey looks at those who are already podcast listeners to some degree.

One of the first big reveals is that 44% of male podcast listeners consider themselves big fans of the medium, as compared to just 33% of women. That may not be a massive surprise but the one below caught our attention.

"Age tells an even more compelling story. Among monthly listeners, the 35-54 demographic leads the pack with 46% qualifying as fans and only 7% as anti-fans. This middle-aged crowd, not the young digital natives, represents podcasting’s true believers among current listeners."
